What kind of equipment is available to help me?

Signaler System – Connects to the telephone line and flashes lamp when the telephone rings.

Voice Carry Over System (VCO) – is used by persons who can speak but not on a standard telephone.

TTY – is a text telephone used by persons who have difficulty speaking and/or hearing on a standard telephone.

Special Equipment – is available to assist persons who have difficulty lifting, holding, or dialing a telephone.

In-Line Amplifier – is one of a variety of products to increase telephone volume.

Big Button Telephone – Basic telephone has large buttons

How Do I Qualify?

• Must be a person who finds that using a telephone is difficult or impossible without the assistance of special equipment or services.

•  Must be a Texas resident.

• There are no income requirements.

What else do I need to know?

• If you need assistance to determine what kind of equipment or services are available to best meet your needs contact TNSI for resources available to you.

• The equipment becomes your property and maintenance is your responsibility.

• You may only receive a new Specialized Telecommunication Assistance Program (STAP) voucher once every five years.  However, if disability changes and you require different equipment within the five-year period, you may be eligible for a new voucher.
